Successful Campaign Launch for Town of Warwick Justice Candidate Karen Amundson Demonstrates Deep Community Support

Amundson Brings 22 Years of Courtroom Experience as Both a Prosecutor and a Defense Attorney Litigating Cases

WARWICK, N.Y. (May 2, 2023) – Town of Warwick resident Karen Amundson, running for Town of Warwick Justice with 22 years of public service as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney in Orange County, held a successful campaign-launch fundraiser April 28, that drew over 70 attendees and illustrated her extensive community support.

Amundson is an experienced and fair attorney whose successful career is a testament to her exceptional work ethic and perseverance. Endorsed by the Warwick Republican Committee and the Orange County Conservative Party, she is running to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Nancy DeAngelo.

“A huge thank you to all who attended the fundraiser and support having a Town Justice who is dedicated to justice, fairness and integrity,” said Amundson, currently an attorney in the Orange County Attorney’s Office’s in the Family Court Unit.

During the fundraiser, at Silvio’s Villa Ristorante & Martini Bar in Warwick, Amundson expressed her appreciation for the Warwick residents who helped her gather more than 1,200 signatures for her nomination. While only 440 are required, Amundson was honored by the exceptional reception to her candidacy.

Silvio’s served a delicious spread of calamari, bruschetta with grilled garlic bread, salad, filet mignon, chicken francaise, penne alla vodka, pizza and cookies for dessert, which all the attendees enjoyed.

“I am a qualified and experienced candidate,” Amundson said. “I worked in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor and then for the Orange County Legal Aid Society as a criminal defense attorney. I have prosecuted and represented defendants in the Town of Warwick Court for many years. I am keenly aware of issues that might affect the Warwick community.

“My entire career has been steeped in public service and I would be honored to serve as Warwick Town Justice. Serving as Town Justice in Warwick will allow me to use my knowledge of the law to focus on matters that greatly affect my community,” she stated.

In addition to her professional success, and being a single parent of two daughters, Julia and Jessica Amundson, she has also been an Adjunct Professor in the Criminal Law Department at Orange County Community College since 2011. She is a graduate of Pace Law School and Binghamton University.
